BROTHER DANIEL MUHAMMAD
Chess Instructor
Brother Daniel Muhammad is a 33-year-old Husband and Father of 3 beautiful children. He has been a registered member of The Nation of Islam for 11 years and is a Student Minister and helper of The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan. He is also the Assistant Minister to Minister Ishmael Muhammad at the headquarters mosque, Mosque Maryam.
Brother Daniel has been playing chess since the age of 6 and was taught by his father. In his early years, he received countless losses to his father and father's chess companions. Staying diligent and committed, at the age of 11, the tide began to turn. Brother Daniel began to win more and more until eventually neither his father nor his friends could defeat him. He then began playing tournament chess. He competed nationally all throughout elementary and high school. In 2001, he was a part of a team called "Lakeshore Cafe All-Stars". Led by trainer, Sam Ford and financed by Tom Fineberg, this team accomplished a rare feat. They won two national championships in the same year!
In 2018, Brother Daniel won one of the largest tournaments in America called The Chicago Open. He took a $5,000 1st place price in the U-2100 section. This victory began to refuel his drive to achieve what very few Black men accomplished, becoming a United States Chess Federation, National Master.
In early 2020, after winning an "Experts and Master's Invitational tournament", Brother Daniel was officially awarded his National Master title. This accomplishment is extremely rare, but with the help of Allah, he was able to conquer his childhood goal.
Brother Daniel continues to grow and evolve as his next objective is to attain an even higher title of "Fide Master". It brings him great honor to be able to share his decades of wisdom with the up and coming generation.
